Disney breaks down its 25 different resorts into value, moderate, and deluxe. Resorts that fall into the “Deluxe” category offer elevated and unique Disney experiences. These are certainly locations to consider for celebrating special occasions. You’ll want to add them to your bucket list. We’ve broken down what makes a Disney resort deluxe and what each location’s personality offers.
What makes a Deluxe Disney Resort, deluxe?
A Deluxe Disney Resort differentiates itself with larger rooms and villa options with multiple bedrooms. These resorts are generally located closest to the parks and offer convenient forms of transportation to and from. They also offer more onsite entertainment such as movie nights, bonfires, and immersive themes.
We dive deeper into the differences between each Disney vacation category here.
What makes each Deluxe Disney Resort unique?
If you’re looking for an elevated Disney vacation experience, Deluxe Resorts are the way to go. Let’s look at what makes each location magical.
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Where Simba comes to play… The Animal Kingdom Lodge transports you on an African safari adventure. Right on the property (and maybe just outside your balcony), over 30 species of African wildlife roam. Waking up to zebras and giraffes may just be a dream come true for any animal lover.
When entering the Lodge, you’ll step into a beautiful six-story lobby decorated with African artwork and design. Its award-winning dining is also considered to be one of the best “foodie resorts.”
The Boardwalk Inn is the best option for those looking for nightlife. The waterfront hotel features a Coney Island-style boardwalk with carnival games and lots of treats. It’s within walking distance from Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s also within walking distance to Disney’s Yacht & Beach Resorts and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts for more nightlife entertainment.
The experience is just as it sounds…Contemporary. The resort is ultra-modern with incredible views and relaxing pools. The dining features fine dining at California Grill and a meal never to forget at Chef Mickey’s. The iconic Disney monorail actually drives through the resort itself, making it very easy to get to Magic Kingdom or Epcot.
Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
This deluxe resort is perfect for those who are enamored with the timeless Disney classics. Its stylish, grand interior is themed turn-of-the-century Victorian. Visitors can watch the fireworks light up over Cinderella Castle. It’s just down the walking path or one-stop over on the monorail from Magic Kingdom. Its spa offers luxurious massages and a few of the rooms even include a jacuzzi.
This is the priciest of resort options. The Grand Floridian is a wonderful palace for special occasion celebrations.
Calling all Moana lovers…The Polynesian Village is a tropical escape among the Disney Parks. Its motto, “Aiita Peatea,” meaning “There will be another day tomorrow, just like today,” encompasses the casual and relaxing island vibe. It features exotic food and drinks at its world-class restaurants. It also has a fun Volcano-themed pool and beach area. This resort is very family-oriented and has something exciting for everyone.
This deluxe Disney resort mirrors America’s Great Northwest with its huge rustic lobby beautified with Pacific Northwest Artifacts artifacts. An 80-ft fireplace, totem poles, and wood carvings, and a few hidden mickeys decorate the lobby. The Wilderness Lodge is a fun Disney vacation for those who love the outdoors. Visitors have access to a huge pool and a nature trail that connects it to Fort Wilderness.
Yacht Club and Beach Club
These deluxe resorts are both located just a short walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The two are joined at the center and share most of the amenities, including the infamous 3-acre pool Stormalong Bay. The pool features the tallest waterslide of any Walt Disney World hotel, a lazy river, and an elevated tanning deck. Both have wonderful dining options. Beach Club has slightly kid-friendlier food options while Yacht Club is more fine dining.
We urge you to keep in mind these resorts may have limited availability as they re-open. Booking ahead of time is key to securing the Deluxe Disney Resort vacation you’re dreaming of.
