5 Ways to Relax at Disney Parks

I know, I know, if you’re already on a vacation, why would you need to know how to relax, right?  You’re supposed to already be relaxing. Well, with a Disney Destination vacation, there is a lot that can seem overwhelming and stressful.  There is a LOT of walking, crowds of people, decisions to make, kids that get cranky, long lines and can we mention the heels that get hit by strollers??

You might say, then why Alia, would I ever want to go on a Disney vacation?

Yes, a Disney vacation can be stressful, IF you are not fully prepared.  I have found in my years of experience at the Disney Parks and helping clients plan the perfect Disney vacation, if you are prepared, it can be the most magical and stress free vacation ever!

Here are a couple of tips I have come up with to help you to remember to relax on your Disney Vacation.

1.  Book through a Travel Agent.

Of course you say this Alia, you are a Travel agent!  Yes, I know, but even if I wasn’t, this is the first thing I would suggest.  Having someone on your side, making sure your vacation is seamless is priceless especially if you end up in a pickle.  From the very beginning a (good) travel agent has the knowledge and expertise to help you make the best decisions for your family.  Where to stay, where to eat, FastPass reservations, dining reservations, transfers, flights, etc. Also, you can’t get 24/7 customer service anywhere else without waiting on hold and talking to a different person each time.

2.  Take a “Breather” Day

As I mentioned before, there is a lot of walking at Disney Parks.  At Disneyland Resort alone, I once walked 35 miles in 5 days!  That’s a lot for me!  So it’s important to schedule some downtime in between park days or even in the middle of the day.  Lounge at the pool, nap, go to the beach.  Just chillax.

3.  Find the “Boring” Rides to Rest At

Now I feel it might be blasphemous to say any ride is “boring”, but you know the rides that are slower, dark on the inside and out of the heat.  Those are great opportunities to rest your tired feet.  Examples are Snow Whites Scary Adventure (Disneyland Park), Ariel’s Undersea Adventure (Disney’s California Adventure), It’s a Small World, etc.

4. Utilize the FastPass System

Disneyland recently implemented the MaxPass system where you can get FastPasses on your mobile device once entering the park.  No more running around the park first thing to get FastPasses.  This saves so much time and stress! Walt Disney World offers FastPass reservations up to 60 days before check in if you’re staying at a Disney Resort Hotel or 30 days prior to check in elsewhere.

5. Stay on Property

I can’t emphasize this one enough.  The perks of staying on property outweigh staying off by leaps and bounds.  And if you can stay in any of the Deluxe Resorts, even better and worth it!  Many of the resorts have direct access to the parks and if not, close proximity.  At Walt Disney World, the bus system is directly linked to the resorts making it so easy to get to your hotel room and back in a timely manner.  You don’t have to worry about parking your car, then finding your car later when you are exhausted.
